I had the privilege to by part of the six, now kind of seven, sweaty chicks sawtooth relay team again this year! We added a team member because of all the injuries that snuck up on us. One was recovering from knee surgery, one had a stress fracture, and one had a hurt calf. The "healthy" runners, including me, were quite nervous on each leg our "injured" team mates ran, but as usual, they kicked ass and needed absolutely no subbing or help. We've got a tough group of chicks!
I was lucky enough to draw to run the first leg. It was my all time FAVORITE! Never have I enjoyed a run so much while watching the sun rise. However, running the first leg meant I also had to run leg 7. All downhill. From 1,400 feet in elevation all the way down to flat. Running downhill is SO FREAKING HARD!! My legs were so so so soar the next day/week. I envy those that are good at running downhill. I am not one of them. I actually think I might prefer running uphill. Deb asked if she could trade me legs and I'm thinking because of leg 7, she can have it back next time. But, I would miss leg one very very much.
Safety first!
Yep, Rachel is amazing. She can do a cartwheel while running up a gigantic mountain. She has it all!
Way
to go ladies and THANKS for letting me part of the 6, now 7, sweaty
wonder chicks. Erin, you are an excellent addition to our team! Rachel
and Deb are masters at coming up with our uniforms. I've never worn
cooler socks in my life!
